VA Disability Rating Calculator

Enter your individual service-connected ratings to estimate your combined VA disability rating. Select an extremity only when the rated disability affects that arm or leg.

Your disability ratings

Uncommon situation: Some disabilities involving paired skeletal muscles require special bilateral-factor consideration under 38 C.F.R. § 4.26. If this applies to you, check the box to receive an individualized-review notice instead of a potentially incomplete estimate.

Add your ratings, then select Calculate combined rating.

How VA math works

VA generally combines ratings using the whole-person method, not simple addition. Qualifying disabilities of paired arms or legs may also receive a bilateral factor before other ratings are combined. The result is rounded to the nearest 10 percent for the combined disability evaluation.

Important: This is an educational estimate, not a VA decision. Special rules can affect the calculation, including when the bilateral factor would produce a lower evaluation, unusual rating combinations, or how a disability is classified. A 0% rating does not add to the combined percentage. This tool does not determine service connection, effective dates, TDIU eligibility, or monthly payment amounts.
